The Ohio Valley Mall has been drawing thousands of shoppers lately.
At the grand opening of Boscov's, store officials said in the first few days alone, they took in more than $1 million.
Even on a weekday, throngs of shoppers have been packing the mall, checking out the stores and carrying packages.
For the mall management, it's a gratifying sight, but one they've been working toward for more than a year.
"This has been a long process," noted Candi Noble-Greathouse, mall marketing manager. "It started with the renovation last year in 2012. And then with the coming of Boscov's Department Store as well as many other renovations of stores or new stores that we've had. Our corporate office has made many conscientious efforts to work with the community, their needs and what would be perfect for the shopper."
She says they've worked equally hard with the merchants, finding out what they want and need, and providing those things.
Noble-Greathouse says this is just the beginning of many more improvements at the mall.
