West Liberty University and Town of West Liberty Team Up for a Brighter Future
WEST LIBERTY W.Va. -
West Liberty University is reaching out to help improve the community it is a part of.
A meeting was held Monday evening where university leaders and students got together with the mayor, council and citizens of West Liberty to share resources and ideas to make their future together brighter.
The meeting was broken into two groups who discussed the strengths and weaknesses of issues like infrastructure, safety, main street, and retail development.
"We feel that the university has a tremendous amount of resources to share with the town of West Liberty," says Vice President for Community Engagement, Jeff Knierim. "So we invited citizens of the community to attend this meeting.
West Liberty's Mayor, Craig Conway, says he's looking forward to making progress.
"We're looking for guidance," he says. "They've been growing by leaps and bounds. That's the kind of vision we'd like to see for our little town here. We want to bring in retail and more families."
Monday's meeting was the first of it's kind. The idea sharing session served as a starting point for the partnership.
