Parking Complaint Leads to Drug Arrests in Bellaire
BELLAIRE, Ohio -
What started as a parking complaint Friday night in Bellaire ended with two arrests. Officers were attempting to locate the owner of a car on 46th Street just after 9:30.
In a press release, Chief Mike Kovalyk says when they approached the home at 526 46th Street, they were greeted by a strong odor of marijuana. There were three females and a two-year-old present when officers arrived. According to the release, officers could hear running on the second floor.
Officers found Javon Lennel Scott, a fugitive from El Paso Texas, allegedly in possession of 35.4 grams of crack cocaine. They also found marijuana outside of a window. Scott has been charged with drug trafficking, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $35,000.
Dasean Johnson was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Belmont County. Johnson is also facing an obstructing official business charge, after allegedly attempting to give officers his brothers name.
The two-year-old was released to the custody of its mother after child services was called.
