Shadyside Police Department Urges Residents to Lock Vehicles, Homes and Garages

The Shadyside Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles, homes and garages at night as the holiday season nears.

Chief of Police Russell T. Patt, said that annually, theft related crimes peak just prior to the holiday season, and any personal property left outside, such as yard equipment and bicycles, should be secured or stored inside if possible.

Patt said any suspicious persons or vehicles should be reported to the police immediately at 740-676-4023. The call can be made anonymously.

Patt added that the Shadyside Police Department now utilizes the county 911 system, but this should not discourage anyone from calling for any reason. Your call does not have to be an emergency.

If you arrive at the station and an officer is not available, use the red phone located near the front door to contact the dispatcher and an officer will arrive soon.
