Ex-Ohio State President to Lead Higher Education Review
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -
Former Ohio State University President Gordon Gee has been tapped by Ohio's governor to lead a review of ways to improve the value of higher education.
Republican John Kasich joined Gee at a Monday conference of university trustees to announce the effort.
Gee will consult with Ohio's higher education and business leaders and the University System of Ohio to recommend ways that Ohio colleges and universities can balance cost, quality and access. His report is due to Kasich next summer.
Gee led five leading U.S. universities, most recently Ohio State. He retired in July shortly after remarks he made disparaging Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools became public.
He recently led the National Commission on Higher Education Attainment, which charted a strategy for improving college retention and attainment.
