The Wheeling Planning Commission voted Monday to approve a site plan that will allow the Hampton Inn on National Road to go forward with their expansion project.

The plans include adding parking spaces and two stories to the existing building.

Residents of Corliss Terrace are worried the steep angle of the new access road and sharp turn would jeopardize their safety. That part of the plan will have to go through city council.

The hotel's owner says the addition is necessary to stay competitive with the newer hotels in the area.
