Two attorneys from Dinsmore & Shohl will present two topics at the Southeast Mine Safety and Health Conference in Birmingham Nov. 5-7.

The attorneys, Max L. Corley III and Jason Nutzman, will speak to mine operators, contractors and safety personnel for Mine Safety and Health Administration actions.

The first topic, "MSHA Elevated Enforcement Strategies for Mine Operators/Contractors," will detail the different levels of enforcement, and will provide ideas for protecting evidence to defend against three types of actions.

The second topic, "Handling MSHA Special Investigations: Mine Operators/Contractors," lays the framework for avoiding, handling and defending against MSHA investigations involving foremen. The presentation also will discuss strategies for the company when faced with miners' discrimination complaints.

Corley and Nutzman also will provide updates about recent commission and Administrative Law Judge decisions.

Corley is a Charleston Partner in the Employment, Labor and Benefits Department. Nutzman is a member of the Employment, Labor and Benefits Department in the Charleston office.
