Local Dentist's Office Buying Back Halloween Candy, Will Be Donated to Overseas Troops

Posted: Updated:

Many parents are concerned about the amount of sugar their children consume during the Halloween season, so one local dentist office will be holding a "Treat for Troops" event to help cut down on some of the sugar.

Dr. Eliesha Nickoles Family Dentistry, located on National Road in Wheeling, will host the event on Tuesday, November 5. Kids that drop off their used and unopened candy will be paid $1 for each pound of candy, up to five pounds. The candy will then be donated to troops overseas.

Jamie Sweeney is a dental assistant for Dr. Nickoles. Her husband is a member of the Marine Corps and she says the candy is used for a good cause.

The first 150 children to drop off candy will receive a free gift bag.
