The Nov. 8 football game between the Magnolia High School Blue Eagles and the Oak Glen Golden Bears will have a special significance to the New Martinsville community.

During halftime at the game, a ceremony will recognize a new name for the Magnolia stadium and field.

Going forward, its name will be Alumni Field at Bill Stewart Memorial Stadium.

Stewart, former head football coach at West Virginia University was raised in New Martinsville and proudly spoke of his hometown.

Stewart coached the Mountaineers from 2008 through 2010 and died of an apparent heart attack while golfing in May 2012 at the age of 59.
