Voters in Hancock and Brooke Counties voted to renew property tax excess levies that support the counties' school systems.
In Brooke County, the levy to generate about $6.1 million per year over a five year period passed with the backing of about 73% of voters.
Hancock County's levy passed as well with about 66% of voters in favor. It will generate about $7.1 million per year for the next five years.
The money goes towards supplies, technology, security, and extra-curricular activities, among many other vital components at the schools. Both renewal levies have been in place for years.
