    Senate Bill 373, a bill drafted in response to the Jan. 9 chemical leak, establishes a commission to do studies and report back to the Legislature. Senate President Jeff Kessler, D-Marshall, made the first appointment to that board on Aug. 29. Kessler appointed Dr. Rahul Gupta, Executive Director of the Kanawha Charleston Health Department.

    Officials have focused on the longtime use of fire-fighting foams at the nearby Delaware Air National Guard Base at New Castle Airport. Those foams contain perfluorinated chemicals, or PFCs, which are an emerging health concern for drinking water supplies nationwide.

Vicki Dunn-Marshall of Barboursville WV will officially announce her candidacy to run as a Republican candidate for West Virginia State Senate to represent the citizens of Senatorial District 5. The seat is being vacated by current Senator Evan Jenkins.

Joined by Senate Minority Leader Mike Hall, R-Putnam, Senators Bill Cole, R-Mercer, Evan Jenkins, R-Cabell/Wayne, Mitch Carmichael, R- Jackson/Putnam/Mason/Roan, and other lawmakers, Dunn-Marshall will file her pre-candidacy paper on Wednesday November 13, 2013 in the Secretary of State's office. A press conference will be held in front of the Senate Chambers at 2:30 p.m..           

Vicki Dunn-Marshall has been involved in several business ventures throughout her career, including Little Caesars Pizza.  Her start with the Little Caesars brand began at the age of 15 as a general crew member in Garden City, Michigan.  Today, her Cabell County based operation owns and operates 24 restaurants spanning from eastern Ky., southern Ohio and most of southern WV. The 25th location will be opening soon in Logan, WV. She is also involved in a real estate development business, headquartered in Huntington.  

Dunn-Marshall currently sits on three committees with the International Little Caesars Corporation, as well as the Foundation Board with Mountwest Community and Technical College, a recent past President for the Barboursville Rotary Club, the past Finance Chair for Young Presidents Organization and current Finance Chair for World Presidents Organization, both of which have Mountain State Chapters. 

"Cabell County has been my home for over 30 years. I've raised my daughters here, one is enrolled at Marshall University and the other is in the workforce. I want them to stay here and to prosper here. I am excited to take my leadership experience to the West Virginia Legislature to improve the jobs climate which is much needed for our families."
