    West Virginia State University has selected Kumara L. Jayasuriya as provost and vice president for academic affairs following a nationwide search. His appointment takes effect July 1.

CHARLESTON, WV -

Kathy Cosco has joined Frontier Communications as manager of government and external affairs in Charleston.

Cosco most recently served as communications director for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection. During her five years at DEP, she held a temporary assignment in Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin's communications office. She also took a leave of absence last year to be communications director for U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin's re-election campaign.

A graduate of Marshall University, Cosco also spent nearly 20 years as spokeswoman for Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She lives in Huntington.
