Nailers Take Elmira for Fifth Time

Posted: Updated:

The Wheeling Nailers completed a 4-0-1 road trip with a 3-1 victory at Elmira on Friday night.

The Nailers are now 5-0 this season against the Jackals.

With the win, the Nailers are now unbeaten in regulation in the last eight games, and have moved into first place in the Atlantic Division (10-5-0-2-22 points).

The Nailers goals came from former Pittsburgh Penguins 6th round draft pick Anton Zlobin (3) and Tyler Fernandez (1), who was signed on Wednesday. The Nailers led 2-0 after one period, as the Fernandez goal turned out to be the eventual game-winner. Sahir Gill added his third goal of the season, and scored a point for the fourth straight game, as insurance in the third period.

Mike Condon made 34 saves for the win.

The Nailers start a nine-game home stand at WesBanco Arena on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
