A Southern West Virginia auto dealer received major recognition Dec. 3.

Bill Cole Automall in Bluefield was one of 57 dealerships in the country selected as a Time Magazine Dealer of the Year.

Time Magazine and Ally Financial announced the nominees from a field of more than 17,000 dealerships for the 2014 Dealer of the Year award.

Sen. Bill Cole, R-Mercer, said he was shocked to find out he was among the winners.

"Humbling would perhaps be the best word I could come up with, but one out of 57 out of 17,000," he said. "I mean, I don't think I'm old enough to receive an honor quite like that, but I'm just tickled to death."

Cole also was invited to attend the 97th annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Expo in New Orleans Jan. 25.
