MCCANDLESS, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania ice cream store owner is headed to trial on charges he molested two girls.
At a court appearance Wednesday a judge ordered 61-year-old David Higginbotham to stand trial on charges including aggravated indecent assault of a child.
Police allege Higginbotham was friends of the parents of the girls, now 11 and 13, and that he molested them on several occasions since 2008. Police say the oldest girl told her parents about the alleged contact, and they called police.
Defense attorney Phil DiLucente says Higginbotham maintains his innocence.
Higginbotham was arrested in November at his Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt store in McCandless, a suburb north of Pittsburgh.
