Morgantown High School senior running back Chazzy Thomas is the 2013 winner of the Kennedy Award, as the top prep football player in West Virginia.
Thomas becomes the fifth Mohigan to win the award, the most in the state.
Despite a late-season injury, Thomas amassed 2,108 yards and 30 touchdowns. Six of those scores, and a whopping 396 yards came in a wild, double-overtime win over Wheeling Park. Thomas also had a 386-yard game against Dubois, Pa. the week before torching the Patriots.
Madonna senior quarterback Ross Comis finished in a tie for second with Martinsburg senior quarterback Malique Watkins.
Comis accumulated 3,630 all-purpose yards with 57 combined touchdowns, leading his Blue Dons to a 14-0 season, and the Class A state championship. A Class A player has yet to win the Kennedy since the great Jeff Swisher of Sistersville High School in 1986.
