Sleeth Gallery at West Virginia Wesleyan College will be kicking off its 2014 season with "Burning Ice," an exhibition of photographs, drawings and performance by Assistant Professor Ellen Mueller through Jan. 9.

A closing reception will be from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Jan. 16 with an artist talk immediately following in the gallery.

Melting glaciers, mountaintop removal, and corporate politics have inspired Mueller's most recent body of work. The creation of these works was funded in part by a Puffin Foundation grant and completed at Nes Artist Residency in Skagaströnd, Iceland, summer 2013. Mueller has exhibited nationally and internationally as an interdisciplinary artist working in image, performance and installation.

Mueller was raised in Fargo, ND and currently lives and works in Buckhannon as an Assistant Professor of Art at Wesleyan. She received her MFA in Studio Art from University of South Florida, as well as a BA in Theatre and Art, and a BS in Design Technology from Bemidji State University. Additionally, she has obtained training at Dell'Arte International and the Brave New Institute.

During semester break, the gallery will be open by appointment only, with regular hours, Monday through Friday, from 12 – 5 p.m., resuming on Jan. 6. The gallery is located on the first floor of McCuskey Hall at West Virginia Wesleyan College, at the intersection of East Main Street and College Avenue in Buckhannon. Admission is free.
