Steubenville police had their hands full on New Year's Day as multiple altercations were reported in the city.
In the first incident, police allegedly found a handgun in a car after two women got into an argument on State Street. Steubenville Police arrived at a residence where a woman claimed another woman struck her glasses off of her face during an argument. At that time, a vehicle with someone who reportedly had a handgun that was involved in the altercation drove by. Police stopped the driver and allegedly found a handgun on the driver. Arrested was Roy Norris, who is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and having weapons under disability.
In another incident, a man was seriously injured after he and another man get into a fight early Wednesday morning. Police say they found the victim with blood coming from his mouth, lumps on his forehead and right eye and scratches around his neck. The victim claimed one James Oxley was very intoxicated and got upset with him for "hanging out" with another person earlier in the day. The victim said Oxley began to shove and punch him. A juvenile at the house then reportedly hit the victim in the right eye with an alcohol bottle. Oxley was arrested for a bench warrant and assault.
Finally, Steubenville police responded to an apartment on North Fourth Street where a man said he was allegedly stabbed in the leg at the Spot Bar and then walked home where he collapsed on the kitchen floor. The man, one Kabarey Harris, was taken to Trinity West. However, after speaking with Harris' girlfriend, Joyce Stewart, police discovered that she was the one who allegedly stabbed him in the leg after getting into an argument in the hallway. Charges are pending against Harris.
