Ormet Workers Picket Outside AEP

The fight for jobs at Ormet continued with a bus trip on Wednesday.

Laid-off workers headed to Columbus to hold an informational picket outside American Electric Power. Last February, Ormet plunged into bankruptcy after AEP raised its electric rate from $38 per megawatt hour in 2009 to $62.80 in 2013.

On Dec. 11, the USW delivered thousands of signatures to Gov. John Kasich and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio urging them to step in so the bankrupt plant could start back up.
