Some Wheeling Neighborhood Residents Still Unhappy With Plans to Relocate Access Road

WHEELING -

An ongoing project in Wheeling sill has some residents of one neighborhood on edge.

After a vote by city council, the second reading of an ordinance passed, moving forward with the abandonment and relocation of Corliss Terrace, a road next to the Hampton Inn along National Road. It's the only access road to the homes on Corliss Avenue.

Before the vote, the vice mayor called upon city officials to speak on the safety of the move. The fire and police chiefs, along with the public works department shared no concerns as far as safety goes, but residents who live behind the hotel are still not happy.

Neighborhood resident Doug Huff is one of the residents of Corliss Avenue who have raised concerns after learning of the plans last fall. City officials have reassured Huff and the rest of the residents that their safety would not be jeopardized.
