It's been a year of many firsts for the Zambito family. Last January, Krista and Ricci were told their baby, Luca, would never make it to full term. Several weeks ago, they celebrated their first Christmas with little Luca.

The Zambitos welcomed 7News Anchor Jamie Ward into their home after Luca was born last May, to share their story of hope and faith.

This January, we checked back in with the family of three, who is happy as ever.

"We took him to his first live basketball game the other day," Ricci said. Luca is becoming a sports fan just like Dad.

"Last January was one of the worst months we've ever had," he admits. "Now we're on cloud nine and we have our little miracle boy."

Krista and Ricci are enjoying every minute of watching their little boy grow.

"I tell him every morning that he's my little angel that god sent down to me," Krista told 7News.

"He's brought a lot of joy to us," Ricci adds.

Ricci and Krista's story has brought a lot of hope to people in their community.

"We've had a lot of people come and tell us how many tears they shed for our story, how it's changed a lot of other peoples lives," Ricci said. "It gives them hope."

The Zambitos may be proof that sometimes, all you need is hope.

"Once you get the miracle of your own child, it's just awesome," Ricci said. "Every day just gets better and you can't wait to come home and be with him."

Ricci and Krista have been putting the video camera Luca's grandma gave them to good use, capturing every moment on camera to show their son one day.
