Authorities are asking residents to be vigilant as a surge of robberies have occurred across Belmont County.
The Belmont County Sheriff's Department said that in the last 10 days, three burglaries have been reported in Colerain, two in the Jacobsburg area, and two outside St Clairsville.
The sheriff's department said the thieves break in windows or doors and take money, jewelry and guns. Police also believe that there may be several different groups of individuals involved.
Two homes were also burglarized in Bellaire on Tuesday, and the stolen items include a pistol and a laptop computer.
According to Bellaire Police, a resident returned home around 6 p.m. on Tuesday at their residence at 34th and Trumbull streets and discovered that their side door had been broken out. The resident reported a pistol and a Microsoft tablet had been stolen.
In the second incident, a resident arrived at their home located at 37th and Trumbull streets to find that their basement door had been forced open. A laptop and Kindle Fire were reported as being stolen.
Police continue to investigate.
