A Wheeling woman was in court on Wednesday to face child abuse charges.

24-year-old Whittaney Hillberry is accused of five counts of child abuse by a parent causing serious injury and five counts of child abuse causing injury. Sergeant Scott Adams, of the West Virginia State Police, said the baby was four months old when the injuries occurred.

The child had serious head injuries which caused him to bleed from the brain. Adams said the child is still being treated and is blind from his injuries.
