MORGANTOWN, WV -

David Stewart, West Virginia University's associate vice president for International Student Affairs and Global Services, was selected as interim director for the Office of International Programs.

Stewart will begin his new role Feb. 1. He will replace Michael Lastinger, the associate provost for international academic affairs, who retired.

Stewart will direct the study abroad and student exchange programs at WVU and oversee the international grants program. He will continue to work closely with the Office of International Students and Scholars, International Admissions, the Intensive English Program and other academic units at WVU.

Stewart has served in his current position since 2010. He came to WVU in 1991 as an assistant professor of English. Eight years later, he was named associate dean of Student Affairs and Residential Education, overseeing the resident faculty leader program, Resident Life, University 101 and the University Learning Centers.
