The Davis & Elkins College Student Assembly recently contributed $500 to the Kate Bolgar Memorial Fund to assist with providing fire safety programs in schools and 4-H clubs.

Bolgar, 11, the granddaughter of Davis & Elkins College Director of Human Resources Jane Corey, was among family members who died as a result of a Central Street house fire in October.

The fund was established by Bolgar's father, Dmitriy Bolgar, his wife, Courtney, and father, Michael, all of Manassas, Va., with a primary goal of raising fire safety awareness. Additional money may go toward birds of prey conservation, which Michael Bolgar says was his daughter's passion.

Attending the presentation were Corey, Dmitriy Bolgar, outgoing Student Assembly President Agustin Ochoa, outgoing Student Assembly Vice President Scotty Leach and Vice President for Student Affairs Scott Goddard.
