Convicted felon sentenced to prison for having loaded revolver with the serial number obliterated

Having a loaded revolver with the serial number obliterated earned a Clear Creek resident 30 months in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin reports.

Benjamin Payne, 47, admitted keeping the gun in his car, telling police he'd acquired it several weeks before his arrest.

Goodwin said Payne had multiple prior convictions for burglary.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security. Assistant U.S. Attorney Blaire L. Malkin handled the prosecution. U.S. District Judge Irene Berger sentenced Payne.
