Belmont County Animal Rescue League Seeks Help As Resources Stretched After Animal Rescue

Posted: Updated:

Eleven malnourished horses and one donkey are now being fed, watered and given veterinarian care after they were taken from their owner's farm in Powhatan over the weekend, but those aren't the only animals that will be needing good homes soon.

The Belmont County Animal Rescue League had already seized two miniature horses from the St. Clairsville area several weeks ago. A Belmont County humane officer says three other miniature horses on that property had died. But two mini's, along with eleven horses and a donkey seized, are stretching the shelter's resources. The shelter said they need small bales of good horse-quality hay, and are requesting horse-savvy volunteers to help handle, feed, groom and domesticate them.
