Hancock County, W.Va. -

Weirton Mayor George Kondik is getting ready for his State of the City address taking place at noon on Wednesday.

Kondik said there are many topics he will be covering, including the industrial park off of Three Springs Drive, putting an access way in between Colliers Way and Three Springs Drive for retail and manufacturing traffic, and the HUB Cap program that will give the city a $12,000 grant for the redevelopment authority.

His goal of the State of the City address is to educate the citizens.

"My goal is to educate them on what we are doing with the city a lot of them look at the properties and ask what are we doing with it and what we are doing is our part in the infrastructure and roads," Kondik said.

Kondik said he prepares for the State of the City address by reflecting back at the past year, seeing what he's done and what he promised he would do. He says he also looks into the future to see what needs to be accomplished.

He also said he's learned it takes patience and the help of the BDC, the BHJ and the entire city to work together to accomplish these things.
