A Wheeling man who allegedly beat his girlfriend and another woman has entered an Alford plea to unlawful assault.
Shawn Brookins entered an Alfred plea to unlawful assault, a lesser charge than the original charge he was facing of malicious assault. A charge of domestic violence was dropped.
Brookins will be sentenced within the next two weeks, and faces one to five years behind bars and a $500 fine.
One of the alleged victims testified in court that Brookins hit her across the face with a pool stick after she tried to break up a fight between him and his girlfriend.
