Wheeling Man Arrested After Threatening to "Shoot Up" Federal Building, Sparks Lockdown
A Wheeling man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to "shoot up" the Federal Building in Wheeling, sparking a lockdown.
According to a criminal complaint, Charles Edwin Coffman, 44, was at a doctor's office at the Valley Professional Center in Wheeling when he allegedly said, "If everything keeps going like this, I am going to do what that cop did to the Federal Building, and I can get the guns." He then left the office.
The staff at the doctor's office immediately notified police, who arrived at the scene and also arrived at the Federal Building where a lockdown was instituted while they conducted a search for Coffman. He was located on a Wheeling street and placed under arrest without incident.
