Wheeling Jesuit University President the Rev. James Fleming, S.J. announced the appointment of Gene P. Grilli as the university's new vice president for administration and chief financial officer Feb. 24.

Before joining Wheeling Jesuit, Grilli was vice president for finance administration at Youngstown State University for seven years. While at YSU, Grilli oversaw the university's $177 million budget, the Controller's Office, campus facilities, Information Technology, Human Resources and major construction projects. Preceding his time at YSU, Grilli spent 30 years at California University of Pennsylvania as the associate vice president for administration and finance.

At WJU, Grilli will oversee all financial aspects of the institution and report directly to President Fleming. Grilli will also oversee the Office of Finance, Office of Administration and the Office of Information Technology.

"Gene has been in higher education business and finance his entire career, and I am happy to have him join our growing university," said Fleming.

"I am looking forward to getting down to business and working with the people who make this great institution what it's become today," said Grilli.

Grilli earned his M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and his bachelor's degree in natural science from California University of Pennsylvania. He will reside in Washington, Pa. with his wife, Sandy.
