Wheeling Central Catholic High School was placed under lockdown on Wednesday afternoon after a non-specific threat was made.
The lockdown was lifted at 2 p.m. after a lockdown period of a couple of hours. School officials said the threat was non-specific, and the lockdown was made as a precautionary measure.
Law enforcement was on the scene at 2 p.m. as students were released. Students riding the bus were dismissed first, students who were being picked up by their parents second, and students who drove were released last, with an escort by police officers.
As of 2:25 p.m., all students were gone from the school and the scene was cleared.
