The escalating situation in the Ukraine is causing tension all over the world, but one local university professor has felt the impact first-hand.
Taras Strutynsky specializes in Global Student Services at Wheeling Jesuit University. He was born and raised in the Ukraine before coming to the United States in 2000, and keeps in touch with his family almost daily. While he is concerned with the situation, he said he feels the international community, especially the U.S. and Great Britain, will soon take steps to send a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We are not talking about any American or British troops on the ground, but I think they have enough economic tools to explain to Mr. Putin that he is on the wrong path," said Strutynsky.
Strutynsky said that military conflict between the two countries would result in a long and bloody battle.
