Several Harrison County Churches observed Ash Wednesday this afternoon by offering "Ashes to go."
Pastor Linda Muhly held a 'drive through ash service' at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in the morning, then offered ashes in front of the courthouse during lunchtime.
She said most people are so busy that they don't have time to get the service at church, so she brings the service to them.
''It's an important beginning to Lent and a reminder of our mortality and it's just a way to take the church out into our community," said Pastor Linda Muhly , Saint Marks Lutheran Church.
"Up in Connecticut I get them at noon all the time and I was looking for a place down here to do it and she told me they were doing this in front of the courthouse and I thought it was a great opportunity," said attendee Sabina Moran.
Four churches of different denominations planned today's Ash Wednesday event.
