Two people were killed in a fire at a one-story residential structure at 301 Bray-Barton Blvd. on Friday night according to a spokesperson from the Steubenville fire department.
The Steubenville Fire Department received the call for the fire around 5 a.m. on Friday. When they arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the first floor. Fire crews recovered a female from the first floor of the building and a male from the basement, who were both pronounced dead on scene.
After the fire was put out, the building's frame was considered unstable and it was torn down to avoid any additional accidents.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Ohio Fire Marshall.
