Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing Gun Near Children in Yorkville Domestic Dispute
YORKVILLE, Ohio -
One man was behind bars and facing serious charges Wednesday after shots were fired in a residence with children inside.
A Yorkville woman and her children were in their apartment on Public Road when police say her boyfriend, 29-year-old Donald Mims, was also there at about 1 a.m. in the morning. Police say an argument broke out that lasted for hours. In the end, Mims allegedly fired a gun, and it all happened while the woman's children were there.
"The incident happened in the early morning hours in town," said Yorkville Police Chief John Morelli. "They got into a domestic dispute. A gun was fired off in their residence. Nobody was injured from the round. Upon investigation and evidence collected, we contacted the prosecutor's office. They felt there was enough to pick the individual up."
Police say they found Mims in Martins Ferry. He is now in the Jefferson County Justice Center.
The children in the house were ages eight months, two years and four years.
Martins Ferry Police assisted Yorkville Police in the case.
