PBR Velocity Tour Pulls into Wheeling

Posted: Updated:

The PBR, or professional bull riders, Velocity Tour has pulled into Wheeling to present two huge competitions at Wesbanco Arena on Friday and Saturday.

35 to 40 riders will compete in the first round, then the top ten will go back for the progressive round.

They are bringing about 60 bulls to the arena, so no animal has to be ridden twice.

"The bulls are treated most likely better than us. I mean, we wake up in the morning, they eat before us, and we exercise them. They're pretty valuable to us and I mean, we give them the best care that we can. They're dear to our hearts," said bull rider Randy Quartieri.

They say the riders are often likely to have some injuries by the end of the night.

"I tore my bicep off my right arm. That's the arm I hang on with, and there's always bumps and bruises and cuts for almost every event," said bull rider Bonner Bolton.

The show begins at 8 o'clock Saturday. A full range of seating is still available, but filling up fast.

Bull riding has more than 2 and a half million fans who attend live events worldwide and has paid out more than 130 million dollars to its athletes.
