At Pierpont Community and Technical College, students can more easily transfer their credits into an online bachelor's degree program at West Virginia University.

A new articulation agreement that outlines what courses students should take in their first two years helps make the transition more seamless.

Officials from both institutions signed the agreement March 24 at the Pierpont campus in Morgantown.

Students can complete an associate of liberal studies degree following a prescribed curriculum at Pierpont that will then transfer into WVU's B.A. Pathway program. Students will be admitted into WVU's University College where they can complete a multidisciplinary studies bachelor's degree online. WVU has an online transfer equivalency system that assists students and their advisors in determining how courses will transfer.

"Through this partnership, we will ensure student success by developing a seamless transition from one school to the other," said Cindy Hart, director of WVUOnline at West Virginia University. "We're excited to be working with the Pierpont advisors to develop a pathway for students so they can complete their degree in a timely manner."

WVU's online multidisciplinary studies degree is unique because it allows students to choose three minors instead of one major. There are currently 18 online minors offered including business administration, forensic and investigative science, communication studies and strategic social media.

Students can tailor a program to meet their career goals.
