The National Players production of Shakespeare's shortest play, "The Comedy of Errors," will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 27 at the Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville.

Sponsored by ArtsLink, the arts council for Wetzel and Tyler counties, this will be the final performance of the 2013-14 Concert Series.

"This play is going to be a major league hoot. Get comfy and come and enjoy some hilarious merriment," said Donna Earley, ArtsLink administrative coordinator.

The play also marks the final production of the 65th tour by the National Players Shakespeare Company, honoring their accomplishment as the longest running touring company in America. This ensemble is known for its innovative productions in communities across the United States. The National Players make the classics current by engaging audiences and examining the intersection between great works of literature and contemporary life.

A major part of the humor in "The Comedy of Errors," an early play of Shakespeare, comes from slapstick and mistaken identity, in addition to puns and word play. Take one set of identical twins separated since birth, add a second set as their servants, and throw them all into the same town for a single day. Confusion abounds and hilarity ensues as everyone in the town tries to figure out why these people are behaving so strange.
