Authorities are searching for the suspect in a bank robbery Friday evening in Downtown Wheeling.
According to Wheeling police, the incident happened just after 4 p.m. at the Chase Bank on Market Street.
The suspect entered the bank, passed a crumpled note to the teller, and asked her for the money in the drawer. He also showed the teller a gun that was in his right pocket. After receiving about $2800 in cash, the suspect then fled the building, entered into a vehicle on the street and drove off, according to police. The get-away vehicle was described as a late 1990's early 2000's Chrysler Sebring, four door, with a female driver and one to three more passengers in the vehicle.
Surveillance footage provided by the bank captured clear photos of the suspect when he approached the teller and then again as he exited the bank.
He is described as a white male, about six feet tall, thin build with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, red bandana and sunglasses. An eyewitness also claims that the suspect had a large mole on his left check.
