BARTON, Ohio - One man was injured and another jailed after an altercation in Belmont County that made Easter Day anything but festive.

50-year-old Francis Ayers of Barton faces charges of aggravated assault after he allegedly showed up at the home of the 36-year-old victim in Barton on Sunday morning, and an argument ensued. Ayers then reportedly struck the victim in the back of the head with an axe handle.

Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas said Ayers was only in jail for one hour before he posted his $2,500 bond and was released.

The victim declined medical treatment.
