Ramp Feast in Morgantown Canceled Due to Lack of Access for Workers

Posted: Updated:
Saturday's Ramp Feast in Morgantown has been canceled.

Volunteers said the 24th annual event won't happen due to a lack of access for workers to the Mason Dixon Historical Park.

Volunteers said the problem began when Monongalia County condensed the committees overseeing the park into one.

County commission said these concerns were never brought to it.

“Why anyone feels they have the right to boycott an event just to embarrass the commission and the other county employees. I'm not going to fall for that. That's what it's all about, that's what it's developed to,” said Eldon Callen, of the Monongalia County Commission.

“It's a pride thing for this camp to provide this dinner for not just local people but from Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania,” said Betty Wiley, a volunteer.

Volunteers said they need 24-hour unsupervised access to the park.
