    A new report done by Wallet Hub, a company whose motto is to focus on “financial decisions and saving money,” found only 6 percent of West Virginians do not have health insurance coverage.
    A new report done by Wallet Hub, a company whose motto is to focus on “financial decisions and saving money,” found only 6 percent of West Virginians do not have health insurance coverage.
George Washington Elementary School in Putnam County, Brandywine Elementary School in Pendleton County and Maxwell Hill Elementary in Raleigh County have been selected as Schools of Excellence for the 2014-15 school year.

Criteria Schools of Excellence are selected on include: a challenging curriculum; a safe and drug-free environment; participatory leadership; active teaching and learning; an environment that strengthens teacher skills; documented student achievement; and implementing advanced programs.

"I offer my congratulations to the principals, teachers, parents and students for their hard work and dedication to helping their school become a School of Excellence," said state Superintendent of Schools Jim Phares. "These schools have shown how to continually exceed the academic bar and they deserve this recognition."

On Oct. 9, schools will be recognized with a reception and banquet at the Clay Center in Charleston.
