College can be a heady experience, particularly for kids who, often for the first time, don't have mom and dad waiting at home to ask them where they've been, who they've been with and what they've been doing.

A Mountaineer presence will again be made on Capitol Hill this summer.

The 36th annual West Virginia University Alumni Luncheon on Capitol Hill will feature President E. Gordon Gee, who will speak to members of West Virginia’s Congressional delegation, staffers, corporate executives, federal agency partners, WVU alumni, donors and friends.

Members of the National Capital Area Chapter and WVU Alumni Association leaders will welcome the more than 400 expected attendees in the main ballroom of the National Press Club July 10. A “Mountaineer Mixer” is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the luncheon will begin at noon.

Institutional successes will be celebrated at the luncheon, and updates on higher education issues and opportunities also will be shared.

Luncheon proceeds will be given to the John F. Nicholas Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits Washington, D.C.-area students who attend WVU as well as the New Home for Mountaineers Alumni Center Fund.

Corporate table sponsorships and half-table sponsorships are available while they last or through June 16. Details are available by contacting Mike Fulton at mikefulton.wv@gmail.com.
