Carnegie Hall is currently seeking proposals for the 2014-2015 school year from artists who wish to present “Creative Classrooms” in Greenbrier Valley public school systems.

Creative Classrooms are described as two-hour, hands-on art integration workshops offered to supplement curriculum classrooms. The workshops are for children of all ages to try new art forms in the classroom and have covered such topics astronomy, gourd art, origami, puppets with poetry, patchwork placemats, clay sculpture, juggling, short stories and printmaking.

Instructors must attend an orientation session sponsored by Carnegie Hall, and workshops should demonstrate a connection between the art form presented and curriculum goals outlined by the West Virginia Department of Education’s Content Standards and Objectives, which can be found at wvde.state.wv.us/csos.

Creative Classroom instructors currently serve about 6,000 students in more than 200 workshop sessions each year. The deadline for proposals is May 23, and proposal forms can be found at carnegiehallwv.org or in its office at 105 Church St. in Lewisburg.
