A quarter auction was held Sunday at the West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville to benefit the Hope for Hines Foundation.
People from across the Ohio Valley gathered at the penitentiary to bid on items donated by local businesses. Vendors also set up tables to sell their products.
The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Rotriga family and their son Hines. Although it is not certain exactly what the money will go to, event organizer Stacy Collins insists that 100 % of the revenue will go to the family.
"It might help them with travel expenses, medical bills, whatever they need to get to New York, to Morgantown, for whatever Hines needs, for whatever they need the money for," Collins said.
Collins hopes to raise ten thousand dollars from today's event. If you'd like to donate to the Hope for Hines Foundation, you can do so at any WesBanco location.
