CLEVELAND (AP) - A northeast Ohio man convicted of enslaving a mentally disabled woman through abuse and intimidation has been sentenced to 30 years in prison. The man, Jordie Callahan, was found guilty in Youngstown in March of forced labor, conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and a drug charge. His girlfriend, 31-year-old Jessica Hunt, was also convicted on identical counts. She is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Two Cleveland police officers shot a man they say pointed a gun at them. A police spokesman tells WEWS-TV that it happened just before midnight last night on the near west side of the city. Police said the two gang unit officers were investigating two separate shootings that occurred late Monday. Officers began chasing a suspect they knew had a warrant. When the suspect pointed a gun at the officers, they shot him.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - One of the Bowling Green State University football team's leading scorers has been charged with attempted rape in northwestern Ohio. Court records show 19-year-old William Houston, of Dublin, was arraigned yesterday in Bowling Green Municipal Court and later released on bail.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Scarlet and Grayce. Those are the names of the traditional butter sculptures of a cow and calf at this year's Ohio State Fair. The names announced today by fair officials after a naming contest on Twitter are a play on the Ohio State University colors, scarlet and gray.
