Our Lady of Peace Principal Given Emotional Farewell
On Thursday, it was a fond farewell in the form of a surprise tribute for retiring Our Lady of Peace principal C'Ann Reilly.
They called it "Hats Off To Mrs. Reilly," honoring the warm-hearted principal who likes hats, sparkly jewelry, Diet Coke and most of all - children. As part of the surprise, Reilly was told she needed to deal with a window problem in the gym on Thursday morning. When she went in, she found something very different - It was a surprise tribute by students and staff for her retirement after 28 years of service. Students and faculty had prepared dances, poems, songs, and even a fashion show and beauty pageant. The parish priest sang a song to her, and the school gave her a jewel studded tissue box, for the emotional moments.
Reilly also received a quilt made by students and staff, a hat, a bouquet of roses, and they even brought in a life-size cardboard cut-out of the Pope, saying "it was a big event and he didn't want to miss it." Reilly was then led outside for a horse-drawn carriage ride.
