UPDATE: Case of Man Accused of Planting Explosive Devices Around Weirton City Building Delayed
A man arrested in connection with explosive devices being found outside of a local city building was supposed to have his preliminary hearing on Friday, but the defense asked for a continuance.
David Patterson, 23, will not be back in court now until June 13. He was taken into custody earlier last week in connection to those devices that were found outside of the Weirton City Building a little over two weeks ago. At his first hearing last week, a judge has refused to reduce Patterson's bond after his attorney asked that it be reduced from $150,000 to $10-$20,000.
Weirton Mayor George Kondik said two devices were found near building entrances, while the third was placed under a police cruiser. He said an officer going inside the building had spotted one of the devices near the door, and a subsequent search of the area yielded two others.
