Case of Wheeling Man Accused of Sexual Assault Ends in Plea Deal for Probation

Posted: Updated:
WHEELING - A Wheeling man accused of sexually assaulting a woman after a night of drinking will spend two years on probation after agreeing to a plea deal.
On Monday, Corey Henry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge, and two felony charges of abduction and sexual assault were dismissed.

Evidence in the case had suggested the victim had been drinking to the point where she was disabled and Henry allegedly took her home and sexually assaulted her in October of 2012.

Prosecuting Attorney Shawn Turak said the victim is glad case is finally over. "Anytime someone has to take the stand and testify something so graphic and personal that happened to her, I think that's always very uncomfortable for anybody. So I think from that perspective, I believe that we had her confidence all along and I think she's satisfied with the outcome of this matter," said Turak.

Judge David Sims sentenced Henry to two years of unsupervised probation.
